Having been the oldest of five children, I became an adult very swiftly. My siblings begged me to make my famous peanut butter and jelly sandwiches every day after school. I was always their shoulder to cry on.
Their minds are like river waters flowing rapidly into an unknown destination. They sing, dance, and play. The sound of a child’s laughter could light up your whole day. They are simply the best gift God has ever given to us.
Many people do not understand the communication of these little people. They do not express themselves with words. They tell their story through art.
In the past, I was very close to a six-year-old. She drew a picture of a girl in a tie dye shirt. I asked her who the girl was, and she replied, "you." I noticed there were tears flowing from the figure’s head. I asked her why I was crying, and she said, "I don’t know."
Children are more intuitive than adults. They have a lot to say, but cannot find the right words. As they learn to talk, we should learn to listen.
